JustOT are recruiting for an HCPC registered experienced Occupational Therapist to work with our well‑respected client based in the Vale of Glamorgan.

Rate: £35.88 per hour
Working Pattern: possibly 2 office days / 3 days wfh
Location: Vale of Glamorgan
Essential Requirements: OT with 2 years plus social services experience or community equivalent, such as rapid response.

Purpose

To promote and maximise independence, social inclusion and safe care for all clients on caseload.

Responsibilities

  • Assess for aids to independence, works of adaptation (major and minor), manual handling assessments and evaluate the effectiveness/impact of all aforementioned.
  • Promote independence to avoid the need for citizens to depend on care.
  • Help the Council keep people at home for as long as possible and keep costs of care packages down.
  • Liaise with colleagues in the NHS, social services, other Council directorates and voluntary organisations where applicable.
  • Support effective working relationships with primary health care team and GPs; patch system is in operation.
  • Work with Occupational Therapy students and facilitate fieldwork education; may lead or support this process.
  • Carry out occupational therapy assessments, intervention and evaluation of service provision for adults (primarily those with complex needs).
  • Work in an interdisciplinary setting and liaise with and provide advice to team members and social work colleagues as required.
  • Liaise with and work in conjunction with other agencies as required.
  • Effectively monitor the progress of recommendations for works of adaptation and equipment; review provisions as required.
  • Supervise the work of junior staff, students and Occupational Therapy Assistants as delegated by the Team Manager.
  • Complete administrative tasks relevant to the caseload, ensuring the computer‑based data system is properly populated; case notes will be contemporaneous with activity.
  • Contribute towards the development of services to adults in the Vale of Glamorgan Council catchment area.
  • Prepare for and attend supervision with the team manager or authorised designate.
  • Attend team meetings and lead and contribute to this as applicable.
  • Ensure compliance with Council\’s Financial Regulations, Standing Orders, Policies and Procedures.
  • Implement the principles of the Council\’s Equal Opportunity Policy whilst carrying out the above duties.
  • Adhere to Health and Safety legislation / relevant Council policies and procedures and take reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and other persons who may be adversely affected.
  • Implement the principles of the Council\’s Environment Policy while carrying out the above duties.
  • Carry out other duties and responsibilities commensurate with the grade and in accordance with the general character of the job as may reasonably be required by the Chief Officer from time to time.
