JustOT is currently recruiting for an experienced Band 6 Locum Community Occupational Therapist to join a dynamic community rehabilitation team based in Essex. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Occupational Therapist with strong community experience to provide high-quality rehabilitation and support patients to maximise their independence, achieve personalised goals, and improve their quality of life.

The Role

As a Band 6 Community Occupational Therapist, you will be responsible for managing a caseload of patients and delivering specialist occupational therapy assessments and interventions within the community setting. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team (MDT), providing expert OT input for patients with complex functional needs, particularly those recovering from a new stroke diagnosis.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Carrying out detailed occupational therapy assessments and developing appropriate treatment plans.
  • Providing community rehabilitation for patients following stroke, in line with current stroke rehabilitation guidelines.
  • Working collaboratively within an MDT to achieve patient‑centred goals and promote independence.
  • Supporting patients with complex functional needs through evidence-based occupational therapy interventions.
  • Assessing and recommending appropriate equipment and adaptations to improve safety, independence, and quality of life.
  • Demonstrating excellent communication and joint‑working skills with patients, families, carers, and healthcare professionals.

Requirements

To be considered for this Band 6 Community OT locum role, you will need:

  • A Degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Current HCPC registration.
  • Previous experience working as an Occupational Therapist within an NHS community setting.
  • Strong experience in community rehabilitation, particularly with patients following stroke.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of current stroke rehabilitation guidelines.
  • Experience managing a caseload and completing complex assessments.
  • Experience with equipment provision and recommendations to support patient independence.
