A specialist organisation based in Aylesbury is seeking a motivated Band 5/6 Occupational Therapist to join its dedicated therapy team, supporting children with neurodisabilities in specialist school settings. This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact while developing your paediatric occupational therapy expertise.

Job Role:

  • Seeking an enthusiastic Band 5/6 Occupational Therapist to join a dedicated specialist therapy team.
  • Band 5 therapists will enter a supported rotational post, designed to build confidence, broaden experience, and develop core paediatric competencies through structured supervision and development across commissioned school settings.
  • Band 6 therapists will work with greater autonomy, applying established clinical reasoning skills while continuing to develop specialist knowledge and professional judgement within commissioned services.
  • Support children and young people aged 5-16 across specialist schools in Aylesbury, delivering high-quality assessment and intervention in areas including sensory processing, emotional regulation, hand skills, motor development, and functional independence.
  • Work as part of a small, supportive, and professionally accountable therapy team, with close supervision and collaboration from senior therapists and specialist practitioners.
  • While all therapists receive senior support, Band 6 clinicians will take a more active role in clinical decision-making and team contribution.
  • An interest in sensory integration, assistive technology, or functional skills development is highly desirable.
  • Experience in schools or multidisciplinary teams is beneficial but not essential; the right attitude and willingness to develop are equally valued.

Requirements:

  • University degree in Occupational Therapy (Essential)
  • Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) (Essential)
  • Sensory Integration and/or Bobath qualification (Desirable)
  • Newly qualified candidates, as well as those currently working at Band 5 or Band 6 level, are encouraged to apply.
  • Band 6 applicants should be confident in managing their own caseload and contributing proactively to team discussions.
  • Band 5 applicants should demonstrate a willingness to learn, reflect, and develop within a structured rotational programme.
  • A commitment to child- and family-centred care, compassion, innovation, and professional development.
