The Pension Service Specialist role sits within the Defined Benefits team and is focused on reacting to the member servicing activities performed on a day-to-day basis by our Third Party Administrators and our Scheme Administrators. The Pension Service Specialist will facilitate client and customer requests. This includes handling a variety of member queries, dealing with complaints, producing deferred member options and solving matters relating to the administration of our DB policies. The role also carries out key activities around mortality and sanction screening as well as interacting with other areas of the wider DB Team by providing key information and assisting with administrative matters.

Key responsibilities

  • Work with our clients, TPAs and wider DB team to ensure all member option calculations are accurate and paid on time.
  • Act as a point of contact for our TPAs and Pension Scheme Administrators.
  • Support our TPAs, members, clients and the wider DB Team with administration and payment queries, complaints and service concerns.
  • Provide support for TPAs and internal audits.
  • Support the DB Operations team and wider DB Team with various tasks associated with client requirements, administration, reporting, MI, payments and data validation.
  • Engage in process reviews and other improvement initiatives.

What we’re looking for

  • Ability to manage own workloads and prioritise a number of different tasks based on business volumes and priorities.
  • A good team worker, able to establish and communicate priorities with a number of people to ensure adequate support is given to the team and TPA.
  • Good organisational and planning skills.
  • Customer service focused.
  • Excellent communication skills – with the ability to communicate information across different media (e.g. in person, telephone, letter, email).
  • Clear focus on quality, service and results.
  • Flexible approach: ability to work as part of a team in a fast-moving environment.
  • Good Microsoft Office skills particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Good understanding of DB Pensions and how they differ from individual annuities.
  • Knowledge of DB de-risking market, including an understanding of the DB Pension Scheme wind-up process desirable but not essential.

Experience

  • Required: Experience of providing a high level of customer service to both internal and external customers.
  • Desirable: Working for or with a Third party administrator. Experience of working with non-standard processes and systems.
