Purpose of the role

The Financial Reporting Accountant will support the delivery of high-quality financial reporting and technical accounting activities across the Group. Working closely with the Senior Reporting Manager and key stakeholders, the role will provide technical accounting expertise, support the implementation of accounting change, and help ensure reporting remains accurate, compliant, and fit for a growing business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical accounting and reporting support (Multi-GAAP, including IFRS and Solvency II) for significant transactions, projects, and business initiatives.
  • Advise on the accounting treatment of new product developments, complex investments, corporate transactions, leases, impairments, and provisions.
  • Partner with colleagues across Finance, Actuarial, Investments, Risk, Retail, and Defined Benefits teams to deliver timely and effective accounting guidance.
  • Monitor developments within the business and external reporting landscape, assessing their impact on financial reporting requirements.
  • Support Group Finance teams with technical accounting advice, ensuring transactions are accurately recorded, reported, and disclosed.
  • Contribute to the implementation of new accounting standards and reporting enhancements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen reporting processes, controls, and governance.

What we are looking for

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with significant post-qualification experience.
  • Strong technical accounting and financial reporting experience.
  • Good understanding of IFRS and Solvency II reporting requirements.
  • Experience working within the insurance industry.
  • IFRS 17 financial reporting experience would be an advantage.
  • Life insurance industry experience is desirable.
