Are you a qualified actuary with a passion for pricing, innovation, and data-driven decision-making? We're looking for an experienced Actuary (Pricing) to join our Retail Actuarial & Reinsurance Team in a key role where you'll help drive the evolution of our pricing capabilities, technology and data analytics.
Reporting into the Head of Retail Actuarial, you will lead a team responsible for developing and enhancing pricing models, tools, and databases, while identifying opportunities to automate processes, improve efficiency, and deliver better outcomes for customers and the business. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys combining technical actuarial expertise, modern technologies, and line management to make a real impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Support in the development, testing, and enhancement of pricing models, tools, and databases used across the Retail Actuarial function.
- Oversee the production of pricing management information, improving reporting accuracy and timeliness.
- Support processes which help manage the company’s insurance risks, in-relation to Retail products.
- Partner with actuarial teams across the business to identify opportunities to leverage new technologies, best practices, and innovative approaches.
- Drive automation and process improvement across the Retail Actuarial team, reducing manual activity and enhancing operational efficiency.
- Provide technical sign-off for business documents and systems, ensuring technical accuracy and clear communication.
- Champion customer-centric improvements, helping to deliver fair outcomes and enhanced customer journeys.
- Lead, coach, and develop Actuarial Analysts and Actuarial Assistants, setting objectives and supporting their professional growth.
Skills and Experience
- Fully qualified FIA or FFA Actuary, or equivalent degree/professional qualification in Mathematics or a related subject.
- A background in pricing and/or project work relating in the life/health insurance industry.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical concepts to both actuarial and non-actuarial stakeholders, including senior leadership.
- Proven experience developing tools, models, and processes using modern technology and coding-based solutions.
- Good technical and analytical skills.
- Advanced knowledge of Excel and VBA and good knowledge of Python, Julia and/or R an advantage. Must have experience of building and maintaining models from the ground up.
- Good problem solving and resolution skills.
- A collaborative mindset with a genuine desire to help build and grow a successful business.
- Experience using Agentic AI and emerging technologies to improve efficiency and automate processes (desirable but not essential).
- Experience working with large-scale datasets and modern data platforms, such as Microsoft Fabric (desirable but not essential).
