Contract: Temporary to Permanent

Pay Rate: £15.38-£17.95 per hour, depending on experience

Hours: Mon – Thurs 7:30-16:00 Fri 7:30-13:00 (half hour unpaid lunch)

We’re currently recruiting for an experienced Multi-Skilled Engineer/ Welder / Machinist to join a well-established manufacturer based in Ipswich, Suffolk. This is a temp to perm opportunity offering long-term stability. This is a varied, hands-on workshop role for a skilled engineer who can work across fitting, welding/fabrication and machining.

Key Duties:

  • Carry out fitting, assembly, testing and fault-finding on sub-assemblies and full machinery.
  • Complete welding and fabrication work using MIG and Manual-Arc techniques.
  • Machine components using milling and turning methods from stock and cast materials.
  • Work across at least two engineering disciplines as required daily.
  • Inspect bearings, remove and fit components, and support the testing of new machinery.
  • Inspect sub-contract parts and assist with service outwork to meet customer requirements.

About You:

You’ll be skilled and reliable with a strong attention to detail and pride in your work.

Requirements:

  • Apprenticeship or relevant engineering qualification preferred.
  • Previous experience in a similar mechanical fitting, welding or machining role.
  • Strong fitting, welding/fabrication and machining experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
  • Experience using hand tools and workshop equipment.
  • Forklift and overhead crane experience/certification would be advantageous.
  • Good attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Able to work calmly under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Flexible, professional and willing to support different areas of the operation.
  • Computer literate with the ability to complete job-related paperwork accurately.
