A supportive and forward-thinking further-education setting in Wakefield is seeking a dedicated SEND Secondary Support Assistant to work 1:1 with a student from September 2026. This is a full-time position offering the chance to make a meaningful difference in a young person’s educational journey. Responsibilities
- Offering 1:1 support to a student with identified SEND needs
- Assisting with learning tasks, organisation and engagement
- Supporting emotional regulation and promoting positive behaviour
- Liaising with teaching staff, SENCO and external professionals
- Helping adapt resources to meet individual learning requirements
- Encouraging independence and confidence in both academic and social settings
Pre-requisites
- Experience supporting young people with SEND in a school or FE environment
- Strong communication, empathy and resilience
- Ability to build trust and maintain professional boundaries
