About the role: We are seeking a creative and committed Art & Photography Teacher to join a supportive secondary/FE setting in Wakefield. This position is available as soon as possible, with the opportunity to extend into the new academic year for the right person. Hours are flexible, making this an excellent opportunity for teachers seeking full‑time, part‑time, or adaptable working patterns. Experience teaching FE learners is preferred, though not essential for strong candidates with a passion for the arts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging Art and Photography lessons across relevant key stages, ensuring high‑quality teaching and learning.
- Plan and assess effectively to support student progress and creative development.
- Maintain a positive studio/classroom environment that encourages experimentation, independence, and artistic expression.
- Support practical coursework and portfolio development in line with curriculum and qualification requirements.
- Collaborate with colleagues to contribute to departmental projects, exhibitions, and enrichment activities.
- Uphold safeguarding responsibilities and promote student wellbeing at all times.
Pre‑requisites:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant post‑16 teaching qualification.
- Strong subject knowledge in Art and Photography, with confidence delivering both theory and practical work.
- A flexible, proactive approach and willingness to adapt to the needs of the department.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to inspire creativity in learners.
- FE teaching experience is advantageous but not essential.
