justteachers is delighted to be working in partnership with a supportive and nurturing SEND school in Swaffham to recruit a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant for a full-time, long-term position starting in September. This is a rewarding opportunity for an enthusiastic individual who is passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs. The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff to provide tailored support, helping pupils to access learning, develop confidence, and achieve their individual goals within a safe and inclusive environment.
You will support pupils with a range of special educational needs, both within the classroom and through targeted interventions, contributing to a positive and engaging learning experience for all.
Key Responsibilities- Classroom Support β Assist the teacher in delivering engaging and accessible learning activities
- Individual & Small Group Support β Provide tailored support to pupils with a range of SEND needs
- Behaviour & Emotional Support β Promote positive behaviour and support pupilsβ emotional wellbeing
- Learning Development β Encourage independence, confidence, and social development
- Personalised Support β Adapt resources and activities to meet individual learning needs
- Collaborative Working β Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and support staff
- Pastoral Care β Build positive relationships with pupils and provide consistent encouragement
- Safeguarding Commitment β Uphold safeguarding responsibilities and promote pupil welfare at all times
- Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND is desirable
- A patient, caring, and resilient approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
- Confidence supporting pupils with varying learning and behavioural needs
- A proactive and flexible attitude
- Two recent, relevant references
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
