Key Responsibilities:
- Support the delivery of tailored learning and nurture‑based activities by working alongside teaching staff to adapt tasks, scaffold learning, and provide emotional reassurance.
- Create a calm, supportive environment that meets pupils’ individual needs, helping them feel safe, valued, and ready to engage in learning.
- Use nurture‑based approaches – including predictable routines, sensory strategies, and relationship‑focused support – to promote emotional regulation and positive engagement.
- Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils, supporting their social and emotional development, and guiding them back into learning when they become dysregulated.
Pre‑requisites:
- Experience working with children or young people with SEND, particularly within nurturing, pastoral, or supportive roles in schools, care, or similar settings.
- Understanding of nurture principles and child development, with the ability to support pupils’ emotional wellbeing alongside their learning.
- Confidence using a range of supportive strategies, including calming techniques, structured routines, and positive behaviour support.
- Relevant training or qualifications such as Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, Childcare, Nurture training, or equivalent experience.
