About the role: A nurturing specialist SEND school in Spalding, supporting children and young people with a wide range of additional needs including ASC, SEMH, communication differences, sensory needs, and cognition & learning difficulties. The school prides itself on highly adaptive teaching, calm and structured routines, and creating safe environments that enable every child to make meaningful progress. This role is full‑time and to start ASAP.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the delivery of adapted and personalised learning, helping pupils access structured, sensory‑based and differentiated activities.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff to break down tasks, scaffold learning, and ensure each child understands, engages and progresses at their own pace.
  • Use trauma‑informed, low‑arousal and relationship‑based approaches to help pupils remain regulated, safe and ready to learn.
  • Encourage development of communication and independence through strategies such as visual supports, sensory regulation tools, now/next routines, modelling and structured reinforcement.
  • Provide consistent emotional support, co‑regulation and positive behaviour guidance, using restorative language and proactive strategies to support stability.

Pre‑requisites:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND, ASC, SEMH or complex needs, within specialist or mainstream environments.
  • Knowledge of sensory needs, communication differences and behaviour regulation, and confidence using structured, child‑centred approaches.
  • Ability to remain calm, patient and adaptive, especially during dysregulation or transitions.
  • Relevant qualifications such as Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, childcare, youth work, or SEND‑specific training, or equivalent practical experience.
