A mainstream secondary school in Sheffield is looking to appoint a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their new Alternative Provision from September 2026 on a full-time temp to perm basis. This long-term supply role will involve supporting students with SEMH and Autism within a growing provision designed to provide a more personalised and supportive learning environment for up to 150 students across 10 classes. The school prides itself on its inclusive ethos, supportive staff team and commitment to improving outcomes for vulnerable young people.
Key responsibilities
- Support students with SEMH and Autism in lessons and around the school setting
- Assist teachers in delivering engaging and accessible learning activities
- Build positive relationships to encourage engagement and emotional regulation
- Support behaviour management and pastoral interventions
- Help create a calm, safe and supportive learning environment
Pre-requisites
- Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent experience
- Proven experience working with students with SEMH and Autism in a similar setting
- Strong knowledge of behaviour support and de-escalation strategies
- Two education or school-based references
- A patient, resilient and proactive approach to supporting young people
