About the role:

We are looking to appoint a caring, committed, and proactive Pastoral Care Co-ordinator to join a welcoming secondary school in Sheffield. This is a full-time position commencing in September 2026 and running until January 2027. For the right candidate, there may be an opportunity to secure a permanent role following an initial period on a supply basis.

As a Pastoral Care Co-ordinator, you will play a key role in supporting students’ wellbeing, attendance, behaviour, and overall school experience. Working closely with staff, students, and families, you will help create a positive and inclusive environment where young people can thrive both academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily pastoral support to students across Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Promote positive behaviour and support the implementation of effective behaviour management strategies, including restorative practices.
  • Monitor and encourage excellent attendance and punctuality.
  • Build positive relationships with parents and carers to support student wellbeing and achievement.
  • Deliver targeted interventions and support for vulnerable students.
  • Contribute to safeguarding and child protection processes in line with school policies and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of student support, interventions, and outcomes.

Pre-requisites:

  • Experience working with young people aged 11-16, ideally within a secondary school environment.
  • A calm, resilient, and empathetic approach, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and families.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
  • A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities.A commitment to promoting inclusion, equality, and student wellbeing.
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a wider team.
  • Relevant qualifications in education, youth work, counselling, safeguarding, or a related field are desirable but not essential.
