About the role
Justteachers is seeking a Senior Leadership Team Member to join a unique and forward‑thinking specialist school as it enters an exciting new phase of development in the Pendle area. This full‑time, permanent post is due to start by September 2026 (or earlier by negotiation), with shortlisting currently taking place.
The school is preparing to transition into an Employee‑Owned Trust (EOT), with a close‑knit leadership team of three who will share responsibility for the strategic direction, daily running and future growth of the school. The provision is innovative and hands‑on, with a strong focus on animal therapy, outdoor learning, wellbeing and practical life skills.
This is a role for someone who genuinely wants to be part of the whole school journey. The successful candidate must have a genuine love of animals and be willing to be actively involved in caring for animals both on site and at the stables, as well as within the school environment (including current and expanding animal therapy provision).
Key Responsibilities
- Sharing leadership responsibility for the strategic development and day‑to‑day running of the school
- Playing an active role in animal‑assisted therapy, outdoor learning and practical curriculum delivery
- Supporting inspection readiness, staff development and the transition to Employee Owned Trust status
Pre‑requisites
- Relevant leadership experience within education, SEND, alternative provision or specialist settings
- A genuine love of, and confidence working with, animals (non‑negotiable)
- Proven experience contributing to whole‑school development and working collaboratively within a leadership team
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding, inclusive practice and school improvement
- A flexible, hardworking and solution‑focused mindset, with the ability to “muck in” across all areas of school life
- Two education or school‑based references
