About the role
We are working with an alternative provision on the outskirts of Caistor that supports children and young people with a wide range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including SEMH, ASD, communication needs and learning difficulties. The specialist school is centred on personalised learning pathways, structured routines and building positive, trusting relationships that help students re‑engage with education. We are seeking a committed SEND Teacher to deliver adapted learning and provide consistent support tailored to the needs of each learner.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver differentiated lessons that meet the diverse needs of students with SEND, ensuring learning is accessible, engaging and appropriately scaffolded.
- Use trauma‑informed and needs‑led teaching approaches to reduce barriers to learning, support emotional regulation and promote positive classroom behaviour.
- Work closely with support staff to adapt activities, break down tasks and implement personalised learning strategies.
- Create a safe, structured and nurturing environment where students feel secure, valued and able to make progress at their own pace.
- Monitor and record student progress, contributing to EHCP targets, reviews and personalised plans.
- Build strong, consistent relationships with learners, encouraging confidence, independence and positive self-esteem.
Pre‑requisites
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
- Experience teaching or supporting children and young people with SEND, ideally within alternative provision, specialist settings, PRUs or SEMH environments.
- Strong understanding of SEND needs and how these impact learning, engagement and behaviour.
- Ability to deliver creative, flexible and differentiated teaching to suit individual learning styles.
- Calm, resilient and compassionate approach, with the ability to build trust and promote a positive learning experience.
