About the role: justteachers is seeking a SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant specialist provision in the Blackpool area to cover on a long-term basis. The full-time post is due to start in September 2026, with shortlisting currently taking place. This nurturing and inclusive school is committed to supporting pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs through a trauma-informed approach, promoting resilience, emotional wellbeing, and academic progress.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting pupils with SEMH needs in both classroom and therapeutic settings
  • Assisting with behaviour regulation strategies and emotional support
  • Working closely with teachers, therapists, and pastoral staff to deliver tailored interventions

Pre-requisites:

  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching & Learning, Health & Social Care, or equivalent)
  • Proven experience supporting children or young people with SEMH or behavioural needs
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding and de-escalation strategies
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle, due to the school’s location
  • Two education or school-based references
