Key Responsibilities:

  • Use structured strategies such as clear routines, visual supports, modelling, and practical activities to promote focus, confidence, and participation.
  • Reinforce learning and behavioural expectations through positive encouragement, de‑escalation techniques, and emotional coaching.

Pre‑requisites:

  • Experience supporting children or young people with additional needs, particularly SEMH, within schools, alternative provisions, care, youth work, or similar settings.
  • A good understanding of social, emotional, and mental health needs and the impact these can have on behaviour and learning.
  • Confidence using a range of supportive approaches, including behaviour regulation strategies, clear communication, and relationship‑based practice.
  • Relevant training or qualifications such as Level 2 Teaching Assistant, Childcare, Youth Work, or equivalent practical experience.
