Justteachers are looking for a Pastoral Mentor to join a team at an SEMH school near Market Rasen. The school provides placements for boys and girls aged between 5 and 18 years old. The young people have a range of SEMH needs. The aim of the staff is to build self-esteem and equip young people with strategies and skills to enable them to succeed in the community.
The role will be on a full time basis and is due to start as soon as possible.
Key Responsibilities- Provide 1:1 and small-group pastoral support to pupils with SEMH needs
- Build positive, stable relationships that promote emotional wellbeing
- Support pupils with emotional regulation, behaviour, and social skills
- Work closely with teaching staff to implement personalised support strategies
- Assist with de-escalation and restorative conversations
- Help create a calm, safe, and nurturing school environment
- Experience working with children or young people in an SEMH or SEND setting
- Two or more education based references within two years
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to remain calm, consistent, and supportive in challenging situations
- Understanding of trauma-informed and relational approaches
