About the role
We are recruiting a Teacher on the outskirts of the Spilsby area that will help plan, prepare and deliver science lessons for GCSE students that are working at a lower academic level. The school supports students with SEMH needs and follows a semi-formal curriculum, with a focus on engaging students within education. This full-time position will be with the view of being permanent.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and teach engaging Science lessons (Biology, Chemistry and/or Physics) adapted for SEMH students, often focusing on functional understanding and practical exploration.
- Scaffold scientific concepts using real‑world examples, visuals, experiments and multi‑sensory learning approaches.
- Promote safe, positive behaviour with clear expectations, consistency and effective de‑escalation strategies.
- Work closely with pastoral teams to reinforce behaviour plans, risk assessments and safeguarding procedures.
- Adapt assessments and track progress in a way that is meaningful and personalised for each student.
- Encourage students to develop problem‑solving skills, resilience, independence and a positive attitude towards learning.
Pre-requisites
- Experience teaching Science at KS3 or KS4, ideally with experience in SEMH, AP or PRU settings.
- Strong understanding of trauma‑informed practice and how to teach students with behavioural and emotional challenges.
- Ability to plan creative, practical lessons that support engagement and reduce barriers to learning.
- QTS/QTLS preferred but not essential for the right candidate with strong SEMH experience.
