About the role:
We are seeking a dedicated SEN Support Assistant to provide 1:1 support for pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. You will play a key role in helping students engage with learning and develop positive behaviours.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored 1:1 support to a student with SEMH needs
- Build a trusting and consistent relationship to support emotional regulation
- Implement behaviour support strategies in line with school policies
- Support access to learning both in and out of the classroom
- Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals
- Monitor and record student progress and wellbeing
Pre-requisites:
- Experience working with children or young people with SEMH or SEN needs
- Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
- Patient, empathetic, and resilient approach
- Ability to build positive relationships quickly
- Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant) desirable but not essential
