About the role:

We are looking for a passionate and inspiring Art & Photography Teacher to join a thriving secondary school in Rotherham from June/July 2026, rolling into the new academic year from September (Applicants will also be considered for a September 2026 start). The school has a creative, inclusive, and forward-thinking ethos, fostering a positive environment where students are encouraged to explore their individuality and achieve their artistic potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging Art and Photography lessons across KS3 and KS4.
  • Inspire and motivate students to develop their artistic and technical skills using a variety of media and digital platforms.
  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback to help each learner achieve their potential.
  • Maintain a well-organised and stimulating classroom and studio environment that encourages creativity and respect.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues within the creative arts department to share best practice and support curriculum development.
  • Uphold the school’s values, contributing positively to its vibrant and supportive community.

Pre-requisites:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Proven experience teaching Art and/or Photography within a UK secondary school.
  • Strong knowledge of the national curriculum for Art & Design at KS3 and KS4, including GCSE assessment requirements.
  • Experience with digital photography and image editing software (e.g. Photoshop) desirable.
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and classroom management skills.
  • Two recent education or school-based references.
  • A commitment to fostering creativity, curiosity, and confidence in young people.
