About the role
Justteachers is seeking a Secondary Teaching Assistant, who is looking for a long term role in a Mainstream Secondary school in the Preston area on a full time basis. The role is set to commence in September 2026, with shortlisting currently underway. This successful secondary school provides a stimulating learning environment with a focus on achievement, inclusivity and student wellbeing. Key Skills and Attributes
- Deliver targeted 1:1 support for pupils with EHCPs and additional learning needs
- Adapt classroom resources to meet individual SEND requirements
- Lead small intervention groups focusing on literacy, numeracy and social development
- Implement behaviour support strategies in line with pupil plans
- Monitor pupil progress and provide detailed feedback to teaching staff
- Support pupils during lessons, exams, transitions and unstructured times
- Work closely with teaching staff, SENCOs and external professionals
- Encourage pupil engagement, confidence and independence within the classroom
- Assist with record keeping and pupil progress tracking
Pre-requisites
- Previous UK secondary school experience
- Experience supporting pupils with SEND on a 1:1 basis
- Confidence leading small group interventions
- Strong behaviour management skills
