Justteachers is seeking a motivated and supportive Secondary Teaching Assistant to join one of our partner schools in Pontefract. This is a full-time role, starting as soon as possible, with the exciting opportunity to secure a permanent position with the school after a successful 3-month qualifying period. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers to support learning across a range of subjects, providing tailored assistance to pupils to help them engage, progress and achieve their best.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support pupils in lessons, both one-to-one and in small groups.
- Assist teachers in planning and delivering engaging learning activities.
- Provide classroom support to help manage behaviour and encourage participation.
- Adapt support to meet the needs of pupils with varying abilities, including those with SEND.
- Contribute to creating a positive, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Pre-requisites:
- Experience supporting pupils in a secondary school setting (desirable but not essential).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
- Adaptability, patience and enthusiasm for supporting learning.
- Good literacy and numeracy skills.
- Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance.
