About the role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Geography Teacher to join a supportive secondary school in the Pontefract area from September 2026.
This is a long‑term supply position available on either a full-time or part-time basis, offering flexibility for the successful candidate.
The role is suitable for both Early Career Teachers (ECTs) and experienced practitioners looking to make a positive impact within a thriving school community.

Key responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging Geography lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.
- Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes student progress and achievement.
- Assess, monitor and record student attainment in line with school policies.
- Differentiate learning activities to meet the needs of all learners.
- Contribute positively to departmental development and the wider school community.
- Pre‑requisites
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
- Degree in Geography or a related subject.
- Proven experience of teaching Geography within a secondary school setting.
- Strong knowledge of the National Curriculum and Geography specifications at Key Stages 3 and 4.
- Ability to plan, deliver and assess engaging lessons that inspire student interest and achievement.
- Excellent classroom management and behaviour management skills.
- Two education or school‑based references.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
- Strong communication, organisational and teamwork skills.
- Suitable for both Early Career Teachers (ECTs) and experienced teachers.
