About the role
We are seeking a reliable and confident Cover Supervisor to join a welcoming secondary school in Pontefract, starting in September on a full-time, fixed-term basis for the full academic year. This long-term opportunity is ideal for someone looking to gain further school-based experience, working within a supportive and inclusive environment that values strong behaviour management, consistency, and student development.
Key responsibilities
- Supervise whole classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff
- Deliver pre-set work and ensure students remain on task
- Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies
- Provide feedback to teaching staff on student progress and behaviour
- Support the wider school team as required
Pre-requisites
- Relevant qualifications (e.g. degree or experience working within an educational setting)
- Proven experience of working with young people or in a classroom environment
- Strong knowledge of classroom and behaviour management strategies
- Two education or school-based references
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students
