About the role:

Justteachers are working in partnership with a welcoming and ambitious secondary school in Thetford that is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Secondary PE Teacher to join their team on a long-term basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate and committed PE Teacher who is eager to inspire students and promote a love of sport, physical activity, and healthy lifestyles. The successful candidate will join a supportive department, delivering engaging and inclusive PE lessons that encourage students to develop their skills, confidence, teamwork, and resilience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging and effective PE lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
  • Teach a range of sporting activities and support students in developing their practical skills and understanding of physical education.
  • Encourage participation, teamwork, confidence, and positive attitudes towards sport and wellbeing.
  • Assess, monitor, and record pupil progress, using assessment information to support student development.
  • Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of all pupils, including those with SEND and varying levels of ability.
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and motivating learning environment where all students feel encouraged to participate.
  • Promote positive behaviour and maintain high expectations in line with the school’s behaviour policy.
  • Support extracurricular activities, fixtures, and sporting events where appropriate.
  • Work collaboratively with the PE department and wider school team to develop the curriculum and enrichment opportunities.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, parents, and carers regarding pupil progress and wellbeing.
  • Promote safeguarding and the welfare of all children at all times.
  • Uphold the school’s values and commitment to delivering high-quality education

Pre-requisites:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching PE within a secondary school setting is desirable.
  • Strong subject knowledge and the ability to deliver engaging lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
  • A passion for sport and a commitment to inspiring young people through physical education.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative department and wider school team.
  • A flexible, proactive, and professional approach to teaching and learning.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Two recent education-based references.
