Justteachers is recruiting for a dedicated and resilient Pastoral Support Tutor to work within one of our partner specialist provisions located near Boston. This new position has been introduced to support young people who may have experienced prolonged periods of disengagement, instability or challenges in previous settings. Many pupils have gaps in learning, reduced motivation or barriers that have impacted their wellbeing and academic progress. We are seeking someone who is passionate about helping young people reengage, build confidence and achieve meaningful progress both in and out of the classroom. This role is ideal for candidates from pastoral care, the military, prison services, youth work, sports coaching or behaviour support backgrounds. If you have experience remaining calm under pressure, building positive relationships and supporting vulnerable young people, this could be an excellent opportunity for you. The position offers local work, flexible start dates and the benefit of term time only hours, with the opportunity to become permanent for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Full time role with a flexible timetable and the opportunity to support basic Maths and English
- Supporting pupils aged ten to eighteen, each with an individual EHCP
- Acting as a positive, steady and resilient role model for students who may present challenging behaviour
- Working closely with teachers, pastoral teams, external agencies and families
- Supporting pupils with emotional regulation, daily routines, social development and crisis de-escalation
- Providing practical support in learning, life skills and reintegration activities
Pre-requisites
- Experience in pastoral care, the military, youth work, sports coaching, prison or probation work or specialist behaviour settings
- Training in Team Teach, MAPA, CPI or de-escalation is highly desirable but not essential
- Confidence and resilience when supporting behavioural or emotional needs
- Ability to build rapport quickly, remain calm under pressure and maintain consistent boundaries
- A genuine commitment to helping young people achieve, grow and increase confidence
- A strong sense of humour and the ability to bring positivity to the role
