About the role:

We are delighted to be recruiting for an enthusiastic and committed Year 5 Class Teacher to join a welcoming and thriving primary academy in the Kettering area on a permanent, full-time basis. The position is due to commence in September 2026, with shortlisting currently underway.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, purposeful lessons in accordance with the National Curriculum, including English, Maths, Science, History and other foundation subjects.
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment where all pupils feel valued, supported and motivated to learn.
  • Assess, monitor and record pupils’ progress through a range of formal and informal assessment methods.
  • Use assessment information effectively to identify individual learning needs and adapt teaching accordingly.
  • Support pupils’ social, emotional and personal development, encouraging confidence, independence and resilience.
  • Identify and appropriately respond to SEND and safeguarding concerns, following school policies and procedures.
  • Promote positive behaviour and foster a classroom culture based on respect, kindness and high expectations.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute positively to the wider school community.
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with parents and carers regarding pupils’ progress, achievements and behaviour.

Pre-requisites:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • PGCE or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Proven experience teaching within a primary classroom.
  • A strong understanding of the Primary National Curriculum, particularly at Key Stage 2.
  • The ability to plan and deliver engaging lessons that meet a range of learning needs.
  • Excellent communication, organisation and classroom-management skills.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Two suitable education or school-based references.
  • An Enhanced DBS Check.
