About the role
A welcoming specialist provision in Newark‑on‑Trent, supporting children with a range of complex SEND profiles, including cognition & learning needs, communication differences, sensory regulation difficulties and social‑emotional barriers to learning. The school delivers a highly differentiated curriculum focused on communication, independence, functional learning and emotional development within small, well‑supported classrooms.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver highly adapted lessons that meet the developmental stage, communication needs and sensory profiles of all learners in a small SEND class.
- Lead a team of support staff to scaffold learning, break tasks down, create predictable routines and implement personalised learning strategies.
- Use trauma‑informed, relationship‑based and evidence‑led SEND pedagogy, ensuring pupils remain regulated, engaged and able to access learning.
- Develop and review EHCP targets, monitor progress through formative assessment and maintain high‑quality records aligned to school and statutory requirements.
Pre‑requisites
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- 2 or more school‑based references.
- Experience teaching pupils with SEND, SEMH, ASC or complex learning profiles within specialist, mainstream or alternative settings.
- Strong understanding of differentiation, multi‑sensory approaches, positive behaviour support and personalised curriculum design.
- Confidence leading support staff and contributing to whole‑school SEND approaches.
