About the role:
Justteachers is working in partnership with a specialist provision in the Newark area to recruit a full-time Cover Supervisor starting in September 2026. This is a temporary-to-permanent opportunity, offering the chance to secure a long-term position within the setting.
The school supports pupils aged 11–16 with a range of additional needs, including Autism, SEMH needs and associated learning and behavioural challenges. The provision focuses on structured support, engagement in learning, and positive behaviour strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver pre-planned lessons across a range of subjects in the absence of the class teacher
- Maintain a calm, structured and consistent learning environment
- Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies and individual pupil support strategies
- Support pupils to stay engaged with learning, offering guidance and encouragement where needed
- Work closely with teaching assistants and support staff to ensure pupils’ needs are met
- Provide feedback to teaching staff on pupil progress, behaviour, and engagement
- Adapt approaches to meet the individual needs of pupils with SEN and SEMH
Pre-requisites:
- Experience working with children or young people, ideally within an education setting
- Strong behaviour management skills and a confident, calm presence in the classroom
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils who may present with challenging behaviour
- Flexible and proactive approach to covering different subjects and classes
- A minimum of two education or childcare-based references
