About the role:
A supportive SEMH secondary provision based in Sleaford is seeking a dedicated Maths Teacher to join their team on a full-time basis from September. The school caters to students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, providing a structured and nurturing environment where young people can re-engage with education.
The focus is on helping pupils build their confidence, resilience, and academic ability through engaging, differentiated teaching and consistent pastoral support. Staff work collaboratively to create a calm, purposeful learning environment that supports both educational and emotional development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver differentiated Maths lessons that meet the varying needs and abilities of SEMH learners.
- Adapt teaching strategies to break down complex concepts, making them accessible and engaging for all students.
- Use structured approaches, including modelling, visual aids, and practical activities, to support understanding and maintain focus.
- Foster positive relationships with pupils to support behaviour regulation and encourage engagement in learning.
- Provide consistent, calm guidance to help students manage challenges and re-engage with tasks when needed.
- Monitor progress and adapt teaching to ensure pupils make measurable academic and personal development.
Pre-requisites:
- Experience teaching Maths at secondary level, ideally within an SEMH, SEND, or alternative provision setting.
- Strong understanding of SEMH needs and the ability to adapt teaching approaches to support both academic progress and emotional wellbeing.
- Confidence in managing behaviour positively and creating a safe, structured learning environment.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
- A patient, resilient, and empathetic approach, with a genuine commitment to supporting vulnerable learners.
