About the role: We are seeking a dedicated SEND Specialist to join a welcoming and inclusive primary setting in Louth, supporting pupils across all primary age groups with a diverse range of SEND. The school provides a nurturing, structured environment where learners are supported to develop their academic skills, independence, confidence, and emotional resilience. Teaching is adapted to meet individual needs, with strong routines and engaging, supportive learning spaces. This is a full‑time role, available to start as soon as possible.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with teaching staff to support the delivery of differentiated, accessible lessons, breaking tasks down and scaffolding learning to meet individual needs.
- Reinforce key learning objectives and concepts, enabling pupils with SEND to engage confidently and meaningfully with the primary curriculum.
- Use a range of structured and supportive strategies, including visual supports, clear step‑by‑step instructions, modelling, and hands‑on activities to promote focus and participation.
- Support pupils with emotional regulation and engagement by providing calm, consistent guidance, encouraging positive learning behaviours and helping children re‑engage with learning when challenges arise.
- Adapt support to suit a wide variety of needs, abilities, and learning styles across the primary age range.
Pre‑requisites:
- Previous experience supporting children or young people in educational, SEND, care, tutoring, youth work, or similar settings.
- A good understanding of special educational needs and the ability to adapt support so pupils can access learning effectively.
- Confidence using varied teaching and learning approaches, including explaining tasks clearly, modelling processes, and keeping pupils motivated and engaged.
- Relevant qualifications or training such as Level 2 Teaching Assistant, Childcare, Youth Work, or equivalent practical experience within SEND settings.
