We are working with a welcoming and supportive SEND school in Lincoln that provides specialist provision for children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. The school supports learners across a range of ages and is committed to helping pupils build emotional resilience, confidence, independence, and academic skills. The role is available to start ASAP and offers flexibility, with both full-time and part-time opportunities considered.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide consistent, nurturing support to pupils with SEMH needs, helping them access learning in a safe and structured environment.
  • Work closely with teaching staff to adapt learning activities, break tasks into manageable steps, and support differentiated lesson delivery.
  • Encourage engagement with learning by reinforcing key concepts and supporting pupils to remain focused and motivated.
  • Use a range of SEMH-informed strategies, including clear routines, visual supports, modelling, and hands-on activities.
  • Support pupils with emotional regulation, offering calm, patient guidance and helping them re-engage with learning following dysregulation.
  • Promote positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing, and social development through consistent, relationship-based support.

Pre-requisites

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people in settings such as schools, SEND provisions, care, youth work, tutoring, or alternative education environments.
  • A good understanding of SEMH needs and the impact emotional and behavioural challenges can have on learning.
  • Confidence using a range of approaches to support engagement, including clear communication, modelling tasks, and adapting support to individual needs.
  • Relevant qualifications or training such as Level 2 Teaching Assistant, Childcare, Youth Work, or equivalent hands-on experience.
