A trauma‑informed school near

Lincoln , supporting children and young people who have experienced adverse life events and may have social, emotional, or mental health needs.

Staff use trauma‑aware and relational approaches to help pupils feel safe, regulated, and ready to learn, while building confidence, resilience, and positive coping strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide emotional and mental health support to pupils on a 1:1 or small‑group basis.
  • Support pupils during lessons, transitions, and unstructured times to help them remain regulated and engaged.
  • Use trauma‑informed strategies , including emotional check‑ins, grounding techniques, and calm reassurance.
  • Work alongside teachers to adapt learning activities so pupils feel supported and able to access the curriculum.
  • Recognise triggers and early signs of dysregulation, supporting pupils before behaviour escalates.
  • Build safe, trusting relationships that promote emotional security and positive self‑esteem.
  • Record and report on pupils’ emotional wellbeing, engagement, and progress as part of wider support plans.
  • Pre‑requisites

• Experience working with children or young people with

  • Mental health needs
  • Trauma or adverse childhood experiences
  • SEMH or additional needs
  • An understanding of trauma‑informed or relational practice (or a strong willingness to learn).
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach when supporting distressed or dysregulated pupils.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with school staff.
