About the role

Justteachers are currently recruiting Inclusion Support Teaching Assistants for a range of roles across primary and secondary schools in Leeds. These rewarding positions offer the chance to make a meaningful difference in students’ educational journeys, helping them overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential.

As an Inclusion Support Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to support pupils with additional learning needs, including Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, or behavioural challenges. You may support students on a 1:1 basis or in small groups, adapting learning materials and approaches to suit individual needs.

This is a varied and fulfilling role where no two days are the same. Whether you are assisting in the classroom, supporting interventions, or helping students build confidence and independence, your contribution will be vital in creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with additional needs
  • Assist the class teacher with planning and delivering differentiated activities
  • Support students’ emotional, social, and behavioural development
  • Promote inclusion and engagement in lessons and school activities
  • Implement strategies outlined in EHCPs (Education, Health and Care Plans)
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to staff
  • Help manage classroom behaviour and maintain a safe learning environment
  • Encourage independence, confidence, and resilience in learners

Pre-requisites

  • Previous experience working with children or young people (school-based or similar setting preferred)
  • Understanding of SEND, SEMH, or behavioural needs is advantageous
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Teaching Assistant Level 2/3) are desirable but not essential

If you’re ready to support and inspire young learners and want to be part of a role that truly makes a difference, we would love to hear from you.
