About the role:
Justteachers are seeking a committed and compassionate Pastoral Teacher to join a supportive and forward-thinking secondary school in Leeds. This is a rewarding opportunity for an individual who is passionate about student wellbeing, behaviour, and personal development, and who can play a key role in ensuring all pupils thrive both academically and emotionally.
The successful candidate will work closely with form tutors, safeguarding teams, and senior leaders to deliver an outstanding pastoral provision that supports students’ welfare, attendance, and personal growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the pastoral care of a designated year group or cohort
- Monitor and support student behaviour, attendance, and wellbeing
- Build strong relationships with students, parents/carers, and external agencies
- Provide early intervention and targeted support for vulnerable pupils
- Manage behaviour incidents and implement restorative approaches
- Support safeguarding procedures in line with school policies
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff to remove barriers to learning
- Deliver assemblies, PSHE sessions, and pastoral programmes
- Contribute to behaviour policies and whole-school wellbeing strategies
- Maintain accurate records and reports relating to pastoral care
Pre-requisites:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Experience working in a secondary school setting
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
- Proven ability to manage behaviour positively and effectively
- An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
- Two school based references
