About the role:
Justteachers is seeking a Primary School Teacher to join a vibrant SEMH school in the Lancaster area to cover on a long-term basis. The full-time post is due to start in September 2026 however, immediate start dates may also be available with shortlisting currently taking place.
This school Supports pupils who require short term intervention, respite or support until a positive transition back into mainstream, or SEND School can be reached. With a focus on individualized learning, emotional well-being, and life skills, the school is dedicated to making a real difference in the lives of children with special educational needs. This is position will be teaching and supporting pupils who may have previously experienced significant and prolonged periods of disengagement and/or disaffection in their education.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Planning and delivering engaging, tailored lessons to meet the needs of SEMH pupils.
- Adapting teaching strategies to support a range of learning styles and abilities.
- Creating a supportive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Promote an inclusive and supportive classroom culture where all students feel valued and understood.
- Observe and assess children’s progress, maintaining accurate records to inform planning and reporting.
Pre-requisites:
- QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or an equivalent teaching qualification
- Proven experience teaching primary-aged children in a SEMH setting
- Strong knowledge of SEMH teaching strategies, EHCPs, and differentiation
- Two education or school-based references
- The legal right to work in the UK
- A clear enhanced DBS or willingness to apply for one
