We are seeking a confident, motivated, and passionate Teacher of English to join a thriving secondary school located on the outskirts of Kirklees. This full‐time position offers the chance to teach English across Key Stages 3 and 4, inspiring learners to develop strong literacy skills, a love of reading, and confidence in written and spoken communication. The school is well‐resourced, supportive, and committed to high‐quality teaching and learning. The role is available for an immediate start and will run until at least Summer 2026, with the potential for further extension.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging and challenging English lessons across KS3 and KS4
- Plan, assess, and adapt learning to meet the needs of a diverse cohort
- Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment where students feel confident and motivated
- Support pupils in preparing for GCSE English Language and Literature
- Contribute to departmental planning, enrichment, and wider school life
- Maintain high expectations for behaviour, progress, and engagement
- Build strong relationships with students, colleagues, and families
Pre-requisites
- Strong subject knowledge and a genuine passion for English
- Confidence managing a classroom and delivering high‐quality lessons
- Experience teaching English up to KS4 (including GCSE content)
- Excellent communication, organisation, and behaviour‐management skills
- A commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and student success
- QTS or equivalent teaching qualification
