About the role: We are currently recruiting for a passionate and dedicated English Teacher to join a welcoming secondary school in Huddersfield from September 2026. This is a full-time, long-term position, offering an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic educator to inspire a love of English and help students achieve their full potential. The successful candidate will deliver engaging and creative lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the potential to teach Key Stage 5 depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality English lessons in line with the national curriculum
  • Assess, monitor, and report on student progress and attainment
  • Differentiating teaching to meet the needs of learners of varying abilities
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment
  • Develop students' reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills
  • Manage classroom behaviour effectively in accordance with school policies
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and carers to support student achievement
  • Uphold safeguarding and child protection procedures at all times

Pre-requisites:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
  • Experience teaching English within a secondary school setting
  • Strong subject knowledge and a passion for English Language and Literature
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills
  • Ability to motivate, engage, and inspire students of all abilities
  • Strong organisational skills and a commitment to high educational standards
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
  • Enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service, or be willing to obtain one
  • Two school-based references
