About the role
A welcoming SEND school in Horncastle is seeking a full-time Support Worker to join their team from September.
The school provides tailored support for children and young people with additional needs, focusing on developing independence, confidence, and key life skills through structured routines and a supportive environment.
The role is to support a small cohort of students that have a primary need of autism, working at a KS3 age.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide dedicated support to pupils with SEND, helping them access learning and daily activities.
- Work alongside teaching staff to adapt tasks and ensure activities are accessible and engaging.
- Use structured strategies such as visual aids, clear communication, and hands‑on support to promote participation.
- Encourage positive behaviour and support pupils with emotional regulation in a calm, consistent manner.
- Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
Pre-requisites
- Experience supporting children or young people with additional needs in education, care, or similar settings.
- Understanding of SEND and strategies to support engagement and development.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships.
- Relevant qualifications (e. g. Level 2/3 in Childcare, Health & Social Care, or equivalent experience).
