About the role:
A welcoming SEND school in Horncastle providing tailored support for children and young people across all age groups. The school focuses on helping learners develop their academic skills, independence, and confidence through adapted teaching, structured routines, and supportive, engaging learning environments. This role has the flexibility to be both full-time and part-time to start ASAP.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the delivery of differentiated and accessible lessons by working alongside teaching staff to break down tasks, scaffold learning.
- Reinforce key concepts so pupils with SEND can confidently engage with the curriculum.
- Use structured, supportive strategies- including visual aids, clear instructions, modelling, and hands‑on activities- to promote participation and maintain focus.
- Encourage positive learning behaviours by offering calm, consistent support, helping pupils regulate, and guiding them back into learning when needed.
Pre-requisites:
- Experience supporting or delivering structured learning activities for children or young people in schools, tutoring, care, clubs, or other educational settings.
- Understanding of special educational needs and how to adapt support to help pupils access learning effectively.
- Confidence using varied teaching and learning approaches, including explaining tasks clearly, modelling steps, and supporting pupils to remain engaged in lessons.
- Relevant training or qualifications such as Level 2 Teaching Assistant, Childcare, Youth Work, or equivalent experience.
