The school provides personalised, structured support to help pupils develop academically, socially, and emotionally. Learning is delivered through adapted teaching approaches, predictable routines, and nurturing environments that promote confidence and independence. This role is available full-time or part-time, with an immediate start.
Key Responsibilities:- Work closely with teaching staff to support the delivery of highly differentiated and accessible lessons, adapting tasks to meet the individual needs of autistic learners.
- Break learning down into manageable steps, scaffolding activities to support understanding and success.
- Reinforce key concepts to help pupils engage meaningfully with the curriculum and build confidence in their learning.
- Implement autism-informed strategies, including visual supports, clear and consistent instructions, modelling, sensory-aware approaches, and hands-on activities.
- Promote positive learning behaviours through calm, patient, and consistent support, helping pupils to regulate emotions and re-engage with learning when needed.
- Experience supporting children or young people with autism or SEND within education, care, tutoring, youth work, clubs, or similar settings.
- A good understanding of autism and how to adapt support strategies to meet individual learning and sensory needs.
- Confidence using a range of inclusive teaching approaches, such as clear explanations, step-by-step modelling, and engagement strategies tailored to autistic learners.
- Relevant qualifications or training such as Level 2 Teaching Assistant, Childcare, Youth Work, or equivalent hands-on experience.
