  • Justteachers is working in partnership with a supportive and thriving school in
  • Shipley that is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced
  • Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their team from

September 2026 .

This is a full-time position that will initially be offered on a temporary basis, with the opportunity to secure a permanent contract for the right candidate.

The school is looking for a confident HLTA who can support teaching and learning across a range of year groups, deliver planned interventions, and lead lessons in the absence of the class teacher when required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils’ learning and development across the school.
  • Deliver pre-planned lessons and manage whole-class learning in the teacher’s absence.
  • Work closely with teaching staff to plan and implement targeted interventions.
  • Provide individual and small group support to pupils who require additional assistance.
  • Monitor, assess, and report on pupil progress.
  • Help maintain a positive, engaging, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Support pupils with varying learning needs and abilities.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school and support extracurricular activities where appropriate.

Pre-requisites

  • HLTA status or relevant qualifications and experience equivalent to the role.
  • Previous experience working within a primary or secondary school setting.
  • Strong classroom management skills and confidence leading whole-class learning.
  • Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND would be advantageous.
  • A proactive, flexible, and positive attitude towards supporting children and young people.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
