About the role: Justteachers is seeking a skilled and compassionate Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a dedicated team at a specialist SEND primary school catering for children aged 3 to 11. This full‑time role is set to begin in September 2026 until June 2027 and offers a rewarding opportunity to support pupils with a wide range of additional needs, including autism (ASC), speech and language difficulties, sensory processing needs, and moderate to severe learning difficulties. The school provides a nurturing and structured environment, with a strong emphasis on communication, independence, and personal development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support teaching and learning across the school, including planning and leading group activities under the guidance of teaching staff.
  • Deliver targeted interventions to support pupils’ academic, emotional, and social development.
  • Work closely with class teachers, therapists, and support staff to deliver individualised learning and EHCP targets.
  • Assist with classroom management and create engaging, inclusive resources.
  • Provide occasional class cover as needed in line with HLTA responsibilities.

Pre-requisites:

  • HLTA qualification or relevant experience in a similar role within a special needs or primary setting.
  • A good understanding of SEND and strategies to support children with complex needs.
  • Confident in supporting early learning, communication strategies (such as Makaton or PECS), and sensory approaches.
