About the role
We are working in partnership with a well-respected secondary school in Harrogate to recruit a knowledgeable and committed Teacher of Sociology to start in September. This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive and forward-thinking department in a school that values high-quality teaching, inclusive practice, and strong academic outcomes. This full time role is expected to last until Christmas in the first instance on a full time basis.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver high-quality Sociology lessons in line with the AQA specification
- Teach key sociological topics such as education, families and households, crime and deviance, and research methods
- Create a positive, inclusive learning environment where all students can succeed
- Assess, monitor and report on student progress, providing clear and constructive feedback
- Encourage critical thinking and discussion through engaging and thought-provoking lessons
Pre-requisites
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Experience teaching Sociology at Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5
- Strong subject knowledge and a passion for social sciences
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Two education-based references
