About the role:
justteachers are working in partnership with a welcoming and well‑established secondary school in the Harrogate area, known for its strong community values and supportive leadership team. The school places a high importance on delivering engaging lessons that allow pupils to thrive academically and personally, and they are now seeking a dedicated Teacher of History to join their humanities department from September 2026. This is a long term supply role expected to last until Christmas in the first instance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality, engaging History lessons across KS3 and KS4 that promote strong progress and outcomes
- Contribute to the planning and development of an ambitious and coherent History curriculum
- Use assessment effectively to inform teaching and support pupil progress
- Create a positive, purposeful learning environment with clear expectations
- Support pupils of all abilities to develop subject knowledge and exam skills
Pre-requisites:
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or be on track to achieve it by September
- Have a degree in History or a closely related subject
- Have recent experience teaching History in a UK secondary school (including placements)
- Demonstrate strong classroom management and organisational skills
- Have a clear understanding of current GCSE History specifications
