About the role: We are recruiting an enthusiastic and committed Teacher of English to start in September on a full-time basis; this is a full-time supply role initially, with the possibility of a long-term contract for the right candidate. You will be joining a well-run secondary school in Harrogate with a warm, respectful culture and high expectations for learning and conduct. Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging English lessons across KS3 and KS4, supporting pupils to develop reading, writing and spoken language skills.
- Plan and assess in line with the school’s curriculum and the relevant exam board specification (Language and Literature).
- Teach a range of texts and genres, modelling high-quality writing and analysis.
- Support exam preparation, feedback and interventions where required.
- Differentiating to meet a range of abilities, including SEND and EAL where applicable.
Pre-requisites:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
- Experience teaching English in a UK secondary school (KS3/KS4 essential).
- Strong subject knowledge in English Language and English Literature.
- Confidence teaching GCSE exam requirements and supporting pupils with extended writing and analysis.
