About the role
We are seeking a confident and reliable Cover Supervisor to work on an ad‑hoc basis in a secondary school in Harrogate from September.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young people, thrives in a classroom environment, and is looking for flexible work within education.
The role would suit experienced Cover Supervisors, graduates considering a career in teaching, or individuals with relevant school‑based experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise whole classes during the short‑term absence of the class teacher.
- Deliver pre‑set work and ensure students remain on task throughout the lesson.
- Manage classroom behaviour in line with the school’s behaviour policy.
- Maintain a positive, safe, and productive learning environment.
- Provide clear feedback to teaching staff following lessons.
- Follow all school safeguarding, behaviour, and health and safety procedures.
- Pre‑requisites
- Experience working with secondary‑aged students or young people in an educational, coaching, mentoring, or support setting.
- Strong communication and classroom management skills.
- A calm, professional, and adaptable approach.
- Confidence leading a classroom independently.
