We are seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a secondary school in Doncaster, starting after Easter on a full-time basis. This is a long-term supply role, working Monday to Friday from 8:15am to 3:15pm, supporting students with social, emotional and mental health needs. The school is known for its strong pastoral support, inclusive ethos and commitment to helping every student achieve their full potential within a supportive and structured environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with SEMH needs
  • Support the class teacher in managing behaviour and promoting positive engagement
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students to support emotional wellbeing
  • Assist in implementing individual behaviour and support plans
  • Promote a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment

Pre-requisites

  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent)
  • Proven experience of working with children or young people with SEMH needs
  • Strong knowledge of behaviour management strategies and safeguarding practices
  • Two education or school-based references
  • A patient, resilient and nurturing approach with excellent communication skills
